Assistive Car Entry System
Entering a car can be a difficult maneuver for the elderly, as many vehicles are either lower to the ground than is comfortable for them to sit unaided, or tall enough to require stepping up. The act of falling literally into the car seat can be both frightening and unpleasant. Unfortunately the most readily available support is usually the car door, which can swing at unpredictable times, providing a less that steady hand hold for the individual. Our designers developed a portable, collapsible device that can assist someone to enter a vehicle comfortably and easily, while helping them to maintain balance and confidence. For maximum versatility and practicality, the system is designed to mate to as many common passenger vehicles as possible without any modification to the vehicle.
